We couldn’t have picked a worse day, weatherwise, than Sat. Oct 4 for our Annual Fall Festival.  It was cold, rainy and windy!2014 Fall Festival0013

But cold, wind and rain can not stop campers from doing their thing.  We had an all-time record crowd and everyone I talked to seemed to be having a good time.

There was a line waiting at the door at 8:30 and the parking lot was overflowing onto the grass with cars till 5 o’clock in the afternoon.  Twenty-two dozen donuts lasted till

shortly after noon (apple-cinnamon ran out before the glazed pumpkin).  Hot cider was very popular.  The first seminar on, “Getting your RV Ready for Winter”, was well2014 Fall Festival00012014 Fall Festival0004

attended and Camp-Land’s Fred Dooley did his usual great job of explaining the importance of doing it right.

Many attendees stayed all forenoon and, joined by a steady flow of newcomers (and one very patient and well-behaved dog), were on hand for other seminars on electronic

devices, roof materials and maintenance.  The always-popular, “Ask a Tech” session generated a lot of good discussion.

Meanwhile, children were busy with their own supervised fun.  Getting their faces painted was the most popular activity.
The pigs had been roasting all forenoon and the lunch break was a lot of fun, in spite of the weather.  Mostly, we moved indoors, but some brave souls stayed outdoors underthe tent.

Indoors, the chairs were rearranged and tables moved in for eating.  The popular and very talented NW Indiana band, “Barking Moonbats” provided live music during lunch, and

after.  They included a lot of top songs from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s that were a big hit with the audience.

The afternoon was busy looking through all the RVs on display and with test drives of Motorhomes and test towing of trailers.  Michigan City Dodge had a group of beautiful

Dodge trucks on display that were equipped for towing. A representative of Michigan City Dodge was present to answer questions about towing and the Winnebago Trend motorhome

that is built on the Dodge Ram chassis.

Most visitors stayed late into the afternoon, listening to the music or mostly looking at the interiors of RVs.  It was a chance to really relax inside a unit and imagine what

it would be like to spend weekends and vacations living in it.  Motorhomes and 5th wheels got a lot of attention.  Probably the single most-visited unit was the new Reflection

travel trailer just introduced by Grand Design RV.
